This is the background that The Friendship Collection which has been brought into reality through our accomplished crystal glass designers and glass production masters with their unique competence and experience. The cobalt colored crystal with inlays of pure silver continuously impress the admirer with new visual sensations which vary with the direction from which light strikes the object. It can be inferred that The Friendship Collection will become a modern classic.

“The Friendship Egg” emerges as an entirely new concept from the marriage of a heritage of Swedish glass-blowing traditions to artistic desires for experimentation. When one looks at the combination of coloured crystal glass with embedded flakes of pure silver, there is a sensation of a “perfected commencement and continuity.” Certainly, the skilled crystal glass masters have exceeded themselves in intricacy when handling the crystal’s optical effects and accomplishing extremely difficult techniques!

Glass making in “The Kingdom of Crystal Glass” has a long history and dates just prior to the times before King Gustaf Wasa founded the Swedish monarchy. We use exactly the same quality handcrafting techniques from his era, i.e. the 16th century. This entails that the crystal glass products of Sweden Crystal Design are created - one at a time - manually by various teams in the workshops. At the time when this vase is blown, several persons are working in separate teams within the workshops. During the voyage from the furnace to becoming a finished piece of crystal, the molten crystal passes through many skilful hands, and thus, each craftsman embodies the object with distinctive characteristics.
